At the age eleven, Katya ended up on the tough streets of Kiev, Ukraine. Determined to survive, she takes on a big role in a group of seven boys, in return she gets protection. Coming from broken families in a society that has abandoned them, they form there own family and live by the codes of the streets.

Katya keeps the group together in her little way, she is the most responsible and level-headed. She cleans, washes, smiles and comforts. In a world, where danger looms around in every corner and the police being your worst enemy, Katya is forced to make difficult decisions.

Katya is a compelling coming of age documentary about a street girl,  who never gave up hope and in return learned the power of forgiveness and unconditional love.

This documentary was shot over the period of nine years.
